Forged by periods of Chinese and French occupation, the city is a captivating blend of modern and traditional, eastern and western heritage. Go back in time wandering around the Old Quarter or hundreds of Chinese-style pagodas and temples. Have pho bo (Vietnamese must-try beef noodle soup) not far from the very popular Hoam Kiem Lake.

Housing Arrangements

Housing is not included in the TEFL course tuition. Assistance in finding accommodations in Hanoi, however, is available.

Our onsite partners in Vietnam have identified suitable accommodations near the course location and will provide a verified list of 2 budget, 2 medium-priced, and 2 higher-end options. The accommodation list that will be provided after registration is by no means definitive, and we recommend also doing your own independent research on hotels within your budget in the city.

When booking your accommodation, keep in mind that your first night should be no later than day one of your program (the designated start date) – which will be a Sunday. This is important because the onsite partner hosts a welcome dinner and drinks (all free) in the evening on the first Sunday of each new program. The welcome dinner is a terrific opportunity to meet the staff and your classmates in an informal setting, which makes day two of your program (the first day in class), less stressful than it would otherwise be.

So including day one – that first Sunday – you should book accommodation for 23 nights to complete this onsite TEFL certification program in Hanoi.

Recommended neighborhoods: Ba Dinh and neighboring districts in Hanoi.

Decent English language skills (including grammar skills) are a core entry requirement for our TESOL program. Our role is to provide trainees with the skills and & knowledge they need to teach grammar to ESL students. It is not our role to teach grammar to prospective English language teachers.

I decided to get TEFL certified because I knew it would allow me to live abroad and see more of the world. I did a lot of research on TEFL companies and quickly saw that International TEFL Academy has one of the top tier programs. Along with the quality of the TEFL certification, I was also impressed by the lifetime career guidance and the huge alumni network that ITA has.

I spent a lot of time researching certain TEFL programs, and this one by far had the best reviews. I think what drew me in the most was all of the resources that were available to alumni. The Facebook groups are extremely helpful. I post on them fairly often for advice. I have even made a friend through the ITA Alumni Vietnam Facebook group.

I would say think of your top priorities (such as saving money, travel opportunities, learning another language), and then choose what country would best suit you. I would recommend Vietnam if money is one of your priorities and if you can get down with some chaos and big cultural differences. It's a great place to grow as a person, make some money and check out other countries in Asia.
