Offering a mind-boggling combination of spectacular natural beauty, diverse cultures, and exciting cities, Latin America has emerged as one of the most popular destinations in the world for teaching English abroad. Some of the more popular places to teach in latin & South America are Costa Rica; Chile; Buenos Aires, Argentina, and the great cities of Brazil. While salaries are not as high as they are in Asia or the Middle East, the low cost of living makes the region attractive from a financial perspective.
Latin American countries are a great option for those without a four-year bachelor's degree. Popular options include Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, and Peru.
Most teaching positions in Latin American countries require you to be there on the ground to interview. An advantage of this is you can line up several interviews, see the schools in-person, and then decide which one you like best based on the ESL job offers you receive.

ITA Alumni Teaching English in Latin America
Teaches English in Costa Rica
I typed 'Teaching English in Latin America' into Google and ITA popped up. I was immediately impressed with them for many reasons: The extensive information that was readily available, the organization of the website, the opportunity to speak with an adviser for free, and their notable reputation with the industry. I knew it would be Latin America because I have always loved the culture and wanted to learn Spanish.
Teaches English in Costa Rica
My ITA Advisor helped me out so much. I literally spent four months throwing all of my worries and questions onto them and they responded with love every time. I took my TEFL course here in Costa Rica and was incredibly lucky to have met some amazing friends I cherish during it. I did not realize how accepted the LGBTQ+ community would be here in many parts of Costa Rica.
Teaches English in Mexico
I loved the Mexico In-Person TEFL course, it changed my life in the most positive way. I made life-long friends during my time there. The instructor was wonderful, he really explained everything so well and we had a lot of fun learning. The media really only focuses on the bad. Of course, you will fall in love with the street tacos and the traditional breakfast of chilaquiles!
