The Rome, Italy TEFL course is very intensive and requires a strong commitment from the student. One can expect to be in class for about eight hours a day along with a few hours of work at home. International TEFL Academy recommends that trainees have no other personal or professional commitments outside the course during those four weeks of training.

Italy is one of the most popular locations in Europe and the world for teaching English abroad. English teachers in Italy typically find work in September or early October, and Rome again in January. Teachers in Rome will be expected to interview in person once they arrive in Rome, and they will also be responsible for their airfare, as well as housing. LENGTH OF TRAINING:

DAILY SCHEDULE & INTENSITY:

This is an intensive, full-time university-level course. Students should expect to be in class from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm (with lunch and short breaks), Monday-Friday, with several hours of homework each night. For further details, see our FAQs below.

COURSE LOCATION:

The school is located in central Rome in Piazza Re di Roma, on the famous via Appia, with plenty of shops, bars, and restaurants. It is easily reachable by public transportation: Metro stop Re di Roma line A, Metro stop San Giovanni line C, train station Roma Tuscolana and several bus stops.

CLASS SIZE & FACILITIES:

Classes are capped at 12 students; The school is completely renovated, and it has several small and large classrooms (all air-conditioned). There's also a multimedia/study room, a coffee area with vending machines, and a beautiful terrace.

CLASS HIGHLIGHTS:

We start the course with a welcome breakfast in Rome and then there will be a mid-course night out! We also take the class for some drinks on the final day of class.

NON-NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKERS:

• You must prove your language competence by one of the following: Trinity graded exam in spoken English, Grade 10 or above; IELTS band 7.0 or above; Pitman Advanced ESOL exam; TOEFL (PBT 600, CBT 250, iBT 10); or pass a Skype interview.

Housing Arrangements

Upon enrollment, you'll be put in touch with the Accommodation Agent who will help you arrange your accommodations during the 4-week TEFL class. 

Host Family - A room with an Italian host family is the most affordable housing option in Rome. The accommodation agent service costs €150 and the accommodation costs on average €550-850 per month in Rome.

Amenities - You'll have a private room, access to laundry facilities, and wifi. The room will have a single bed, wardrobe, desk, chair, linens, and access to a shared bathroom, living room, and kitchen.

Private/Independent Apartment - You'll have your own apartment space for your time in Rome. The accommodation agent service costs €150 and the accommodation costs range from €800-1300 for four weeks.

Amenities - You'll have access to laundry facilities, AC or fans, heating, and wifi. The apartment will have a single bed, wardrobe, desk, chair, towels, linens, a bathroom, a living room, and a shared or private kitchen.

Make sure to enroll at least 60 days in advance in order to guarantee housing accommodations.
